Welcome to Roberts Berrie
Same family, same city, six generations deep. We spent most of the last century making things for other companies, quietly, and were the biggest private-label jam maker in Finland by 2000. Berrie was the point where we stopped hiding behind other people's labels.

1910 — Founded in Örebro, Sweden: Harry Roberts starts the family trade in flavor extracts.
1970–2000
1970–2000 — From jams to market leader: Finland's largest private-label jam maker by 2000.
2010
2010 — Berrie launches: Roberts steps out as a consumer brand, backed by wild-berry science.

How we source natures treasures by hand
Where they're found
Deep in the Finnish forests near the Arctic Circle — clean air, wild ground, and berries growing right where nature dropped them. The same wild north we've sourced from since 1910.
How we pick them
Hand-picked, the way it's been done for over a century. Under Finland's everyman's right, foragers take only what the wild season gives — nothing forced, nothing rushed.
What happens next?
The berries are frozen soon after picking, which locks in the polyphenols before they start to degrade. From there they come to the factory in Turku, where they're crushed whole, skin and seeds and all, with nothing separated out.

As much whole wild berry as we can fit. Take the wild bilberry Berrie, for example: a 100 ml cup contains 40% whole crushed wild bilberry — around 139 berries. The rest: 10% bilberry juice, apple to balance the acidity, lemon juice, citrus fiber, and potassium sorbate as a preservative.
Not at all. Juice removes the fibre, skin, and seeds — everything that carries the polyphenols and anthocyanins. We crush the whole berry and leave everything in.
Unopened, about 6 months from production at room temperature. Stored cool, the taste and color stay at their best for longer. Once opened, a cup keeps in the fridge for about five days; pouches and the Bag-in-Box last at least a month, since no air reaches the drink through the tap.

One preservative. Here's why.
Potassium sorbate, and it's the only additive in the cup. It's the salt of sorbic acid, a fatty acid that occurs naturally in rowanberries, and your body breaks it down the way it breaks down any other fat.
Everything we make is produced under Finnish food regulations, among the strictest in the world and considerably tighter than what's required in the US.
Without potassium sorbate, a cup wouldn't keep for months at room temperature, and these berries would never leave Finland.
No extra white sugar is added in the process of production. The sweetness comes from the berry and fruit: it contains sweetening apple extract, which balances the berries acidity.
Before opening, no — the sealed cup is shelf-stable. After opening, yes — refrigerate and consume within 24 hours.
Not all of them. Bilberry, lingonberry, and cloudberry are wild berries, foraged where they grow naturally in forest. Raspberry, blackcurrant, sea buckthorn, cranberry, and strawberry are berries cultivated. Some of these also grow wild in Finland, but not in quantities large enough to build a year-round product on.
Every cup carries a number. That's how many whole wild berries are crushed inside it.
